Publicly traded WageWorks Inc. (NYSE: WAGE) is growing its local operations. San Mateo, Calif.-based WageWorks administers consumer-directed benefits for employers such as pretax savings and spending accounts and other benefits like parking and transit, wellness and COBRA programs. According to the company’s website, WageWorks administers benefits for about 100,000 employers with about 6.5 million employees. In November, WageWorks bought ADP’s consumer health spending account and COBRA businesses, which were operated out of locations in Alpharetta, Ga., and Louisville, said Miller.
